De start bij Actemium
“In 2022 I started looking for jobs, not just in Brazil but also in the United States,” vertelt Eduardo. “I never thought about immigrating to the Netherlands. However, when I saw the vacancy at Actemium Elektronica I was immediately interested. It would give me the opportunity to improve both my career and my technician skills. When I researched the Netherlands, I was super impressed: everything is well taken care of. So I send my information, and a few days later, I received a message from Stijn, client manager at Actemium Elektronica. I had about four meetings with several coworkers to get to know one another and to see what the possibilities were. We decided to start the immigration process. Actemium helped with everything: the visa, housing, even picking me up from the airport. This is very different from the stories I heard from fellow work immigrants.”
De eerste dagen in Nederland waren niet makkelijk voor Eduardo. Hij moest wennen aan de nieuwe cultuur, het koudere klimaat en het eten. Ook het ver van zijn familie zijn was een uitdaging: “The hardest part was being so far from my family on my own. However, my coworkers from Actemium really welcomed me in and helped a lot with my adaptation here. This allowed me to integrate in the group quickly. They did not only help me adapt to the new work environment, but also to my new private life. For example, I joined my coworker for some parties to meet new people.”
Momenteel werkt Eduardo als Hardware Engineer bij Actemium. Hij is zeer tevreden met deze functie en is zelfstandig begonnen met het bestuderen van FPGA-technologie. “One day if Actemium needs to use this technology, I am ready,” zegt Eduardo. Daarnaast ontwikkelt hij testprogramma’s in samenwerking met klanten.
Openheid, transparantie en rust
“The best part about working here is the freedom we get when developing a product. I can use my creativity and develop the hardware as I want, as long as it fulfills the customer’s requirements,” legt Eduardo uit. “Everyone is very transparent. Our manager not only considers his vision for the future of the business unit but also takes into account what employees want for the business unit and their careers. Also, the culture here is very open. I can share my opinions about the development process and express my thoughts on the final product. This creates a warm environment, like being hugged. Additionally, the work is not as stressful as it is at other companies in this sector, where there is often a lot of time pressure and financial constraints. This is a major advantage.“
Eduardo’s toekomstvisie
Eduardo heeft geen specifieke toekomstplannen, maar hij wil graag bij Actemium blijven om zijn carrière en persoonlijke ontwikkeling te verbeteren. “In the near future, I am planning on learning Dutch and also learning more about the Netherlands. Moreover, I want to grow as an engineer since I have the perfect opportunity to do that here.”
